"On The Edge" is an Arabic feature film about life in Amman, Jordan- a city of contrast, where innovation and tradition meet and play in intriguing ways.

Nabeel Sawalha stars as Musa, a successful business owner in his 60's, who becomes inexplicably attracted to Sara, a complex 20-something, played by Dana Dajani.

This is a journey on the edge, as the two find themselves negotiating friendship and romance, courage and fear, health and sickness, belonging and loneliness in a city newly blossoming with music, theatre, and art.

 

موسى رجل بالستّينات من عمره,في قرارة نفسه يشعر بالوحدة ولكنّه يعيش حياته بما يطيب له, يلتقي صدفة بسارة , سارة ذات الست و العشرين عاما, الطموحة المنفتحة و العمليّة, تعجب بموسى و تنجذب اليه.

زياد و عصام صديقيّ سارة, اللذان لهم خلفّياتهما المتباينة ولكن يجمعهم حبّ الفنّ, يصبحون متخوّفين من علاقة سارة بموسى.

WHY IS THIS IDEA IMPORTANT?

​

It took more than five years and many resources including personal and financial sacrifices to start the idea of "On the Edge" as we've surrounded ourselves with incredibly talented and hardworking people and we have already invested our own money to cover the initial costs of production.

Even though independent films generally have smaller budgets than films made by large studios, funding independent film internationally and especially in the Middle East could create quite the challenge. 

As independent filmmakers we feel compelled to fill the void left by the mainstream media and bring audiences to unknown places, opening minds to new possibilities. 

 

فيلم عَ الحفة هو ثمرة عمل أكثر من خمس سنوات، من كتابة وتطوير النص عدة مرّات من فبل عدّة كتّاب إلى أن قدّمته كاتبتنا نورا باجس بإحساس مختلف وإبداع لا منحصر.

فى هذه السنوات تم بذل الكثير من الجهد والتعب والوقت والمال لتصل الفكرة بشكلها الحالي. بالرغم من صغر حجم ميزانية الأفلام المستقلّة مقارنة مع ميزانية أفلام الاستديوهات الضخمة، إلّا انه ليس من السهل توفير التمويل الكافي لهذه الأفلام المستقلّة، وهذا تحدّي ليس على مستوى الشرق الأوسط فحسب، بل على مستوى العالم.

كصنّاع أفلام مستقلّين، نشعر أنه من واجبنا تقديم أعمال للجمهور تبتعد عن ما هو "رائج تجاريّاً" والتركيز على تقديم عمل متكامل يحترم عقل المشاهد.
